What was announced or recorded

Two export apps that followed ReelShort and DramaBox present themselves, on paper, as separate brands with separate corporate identities. Apple's App Store listing for 'ShortMax - Short Dramas & TV' records an original release date of 11 September 2023 and names the seller of record as SHORTTV LIMITED. As retrieved on 16 September 2026, the web address shortmax.com no longer serves a ShortMax site directly; it redirects to shorttv.live, a page that still displays ShortMax branding and drama listings under the ShortTV domain. A separate app, NetShort, carries its own footer on netshort.com crediting the site to NETSTORY PTE. LTD, a distinct company from either ShortTV Limited or Crazy Maple Studio.

What the documents establish

The redirect from shortmax.com to shorttv.live, combined with the shared ShortMax branding surviving on the new domain and the single App Store seller name behind the app, establishes that ShortMax and ShortTV are one commercial operation trading under two names rather than two competing products. NetShort's documents show no such overlap: its own footer and its separate app listing both point to NetStory Pte Ltd, a Singapore-registered company with no stated connection to ShortTV Limited in either source. Both apps describe themselves in near-identical terms, offering tens of thousands of short vertical dramas with coin-based unlocks and weekly subscriptions, a catalogue and pricing resemblance the documents confirm without confirming any common ownership between the two.

Announced versus delivered

What is announced, in the sense of stated on a public page, is a brand: ShortMax, or ShortTV, or NetShort. What is delivered, and checkable through the App Store's seller field and each site's own footer, is a narrower fact: two publishers, not one, running catalogues that look alike to a viewer scrolling either app. A claim that these apps are 'clones of ReelShort' describes their format, not their ownership, which these documents keep distinct.

What to watch

Editorially, a rebrand such as ShortMax's move to the shorttv.live domain is worth tracking on its own terms: if a publisher changes its consumer-facing name while keeping the same App Store seller identity, that is a marketing decision rather than a change of the entity a rights holder or regulator would need to contact.

  • Does a domain redirect change which company is legally responsible for an app's content, or only its consumer-facing name?
  • When two apps share a catalogue style, does that indicate licensing from the same content suppliers, or only a shared genre convention?
  • What would distinguish these apps on paper if their App Store seller names were removed from the comparison?

On the documents opened here, the second wave is not one company wearing several storefronts; it is at least two distinct Singapore-linked publishers, one of which has already folded its original consumer brand into a differently named domain.
