Genre is the invitation
Romance promises that a relationship matters. Mystery promises that missing information can be pursued. Fantasy changes the rules under which a character acts. These invitations can coexist in one serial, which makes a single genre label a useful entrance but an incomplete description.

Use several descriptive axes
Our working approach separates the setting, central relationship, source of power, immediate obstacle and serial mechanism. A wealthy character is a setting and power cue; a marriage contract is a relationship constraint; a concealed identity is an information mechanism. Treating them as separate observations creates more useful comparisons than a long list of promotional tags.
The next question is what actually changes. Does a reveal alter who can make a decision? Does an apparent reconciliation create a new obligation? Does the cliffhanger follow from an action or merely interrupt it? These are questions for close reading rather than a formula that guarantees quality.
A synopsis is a limited object
Official pitches are designed to attract a viewer quickly. They can disclose dramatic reversals while omitting the connective scenes that make those reversals credible. A premise analysis can identify the promise; a viewing review must examine its execution.
This distinction protects both the reader and the work. We do not award quality scores from marketing copy, and we do not pretend that familiarity with a trope makes a particular drama disposable. The point of the classification is to ask a more precise question when watching begins.
