Three different places
A drama can originate in one country, appear in a translated version in another language and reach its audience through a company based somewhere else. A country label becomes misleading when those three facts are collapsed into one.
Our Asian shows section therefore requires title-specific origin evidence. The country of an app’s headquarters, a performer’s appearance and a dub language are not sufficient substitutes. Original titles are retained where established, and an English rendering is identified when it is only an editorial translation.
Distribution travels differently from production

An international app can place a domestic original next to a licensed or translated series. A useful comparison begins with the specific work: its official title, source listing, production evidence and available version. The name of the shelf is a starting point for discovery, not a replacement for those details.
Do not mistake download geography for cultural output
The Sensor Tower report used on this site identifies major short-drama download activity in Southeast Asia and India, alongside Latin America. For that reason, this section does not turn a regional download bar into a ranking of national drama industries. Production volume, local-language commissioning, access, translation and audience response would each need separate evidence.
A section designed to grow carefully
The current selection is deliberately bounded by the official records we can document. Gaps in a country’s coverage are gaps in our research, not evidence that its creative community is absent. A small verified catalogue is not a claim to a complete regional canon.
The original show database remains searchable in the local research room, with its inherited uncertainty labels intact. A title moves from that working inventory into a reader-facing dossier only when its identity, source and relevant claims can be supported.
